This was my first foray into VaPers. This tobacco was a little on the drier side, which is a good thing, at least in terms of keeping the ember lit. Very smooth, enjoyable smoke, requiring only one relight. No bite, and contrary to some reviews I have read for this one, no overwhelming tidal wave of nic-hit. Again, having a go at perique for the first time, I could definitely taste it (especially towards the end of the bowl), but it was definitely not dominant. I recommend anyone else new to perique to give this a go. Also, smoking a Peterson tobacco in a Peterson pipe (Dublin 221) just felt right, although that could just be my OCD kicking in.
Apparently, this is now called Irish Cask. As to why, your guess is as good as mine. Perhaps the People for the Ethical Treatment of Oaks (PETO) got their panties in a bunch, and decided to vent their grievances in a rather bizarre manner. Another scintillating victory for the language adjustment police.
