Welcome to the 8th weekly episode of the Pipes Magazine Radio Show. Our featured guest tonight is Scott Tinker. Scott makes museum quality pipe and cigar furniture. He is a pipe smoker and a professional opera singer. In tonight’s “Pipe Parts” segment, Brian will give his take on one of the most popular discussions online and at pipe shows—How does the size and shape of the pipe affect the smoking experience, and what type of tobaccos should you smoke in which sizes of pipes?
Tonight’s show is sponsored by SmokingPipes.com, Missouri Meerschaum, and 4noggins.com. Please give them some consideration when making your next pipe or tobacco purchase.
We hope you enjoy our 45-minute show produced just for you—the pipe smoker and collector. The following link will launch a pop-up player. Alternatively, you can download the show in iTunes after the initial broadcast is complete here.

My grandfather didn't smoke a pipe, but my uncle and some of my elementary school teachers did. In 1998, my neighbor Sam invited me out, and we ended up back at his place where there was a cigar humidor, and pipe rack on the coffee table. I had my first cigar, and then decided to try pipes too. I love the elegance and relaxation of smoking a pipe. In 2002, I started learning how to make websites, do SEO, and create content. I had a cigar content site and forums from 2005-2008 when it was bought out. In 2009, I launched PipesMagazine.com, which is now the largest, busiest community forums, and article content site for pipe and tobacco enthusiasts. We have one of the longest running pipe and tobacco focused podcasts since 2012 with lifetime industry veteran, Brian Levine.

A really entertaining show. Brian’s take on different tobaccos smoking characteristics and how the different shapes/sizes of the pipe you are using can effect that is something all new pipe smokers need to know.
I had never heard of Scott Tinker, but the interview was enjoyable. I went out to his website to see some of his tobacco related wood work but was sorely disappointed in what the web site showed. A minimalist operation.
I had hoped to hear a review of the Vegas show but will have to wait until next time.
Great show guys. The first segment was very informative. Scott was great, one of the best interviews yet. That guy has a seriously great voice. I was amazed to learn that Brian knew Lalo Schifrin, I have seen his name on so many movies and tv shows I can’t even begin to count. I did not know he came up with the Mission Impossible theme song, that is too cool.
Another great show! Thanks for the bowl size verses tobacco blend information; I will definitely try it and see of it holds true for me. I especially liked the interview with Scott Tinker; he seems to be a very talented guy with great experiences to share. I’m sure he has many more fascinating stories. I recommend him for another interview sometime.
Welcome Back Brian! You R tha cause…(with a little help, from friends!)
Scott Tinker kept me wanting to hear more.
