  • Hi Brian,
I have not had the pleasure of meeting Russ. His artwork is very good. I see a resemblance to a certain person in the picture, now that you mention it. The person I would have liked to have a pipe with would have to be Barry Levin. I tend to agree with your pipe smoking past, present and future. Red Kake, need I say more. You can’t beat the McClelland Virginias.
Music – Bad Habit – “Remington Park”, yes it was a bit heavy.
Rant – The quality of customer service can make or break a retailer. They all know it, but how many follow it? One bad experience will color their future in their mind.
See you when you get back. I liked the format tonight. Safe travels.

  • Wow Brian! What a show! Loved it. I specially liked the change in format. The dialog shows the subjects in different angles. I hope we have more of this in the future. (I still miss that episode that Kevin and you did together and another one that you had a open conversation with 2 other guests.)
The part about Virginias and Perique helped me a lot to better understand the play of Perique on a tobacco. I was thinking all the time about tobacco blend that Glynn Quelch from GQ Tobaccos mentioned in his interview with you, Askwith Kake. I never tasted it, but will be definitely be buying some in order to try that 20% Perique it has.
Rant, spot on! Totally agree. One of these days I enter a clothing store and as I entered I was immediately in front of a well dressed man which looked like the boss of the manager. Instead of welcoming me, he looked away from me and started calling some sales person to attend me. As he could not get anyone’s attention, he kept calling louder different names, all while I was there, 1 meter from him, feeling like a fool. I just turn my back on him and left. Will never come back to that place again.

  • Liked the reversal in the Pipe Parts segment.
I like Virginias but much prefer a good English. Who would I most like to share a bowl with?? Since I have already smoked with you I think I am good.
The drawing Russ did was visually interesting but when you look at it carefully the two ears look to be arranged vertically on the head, kind of like dorsal fins.
Russ was a very entertaining guest. Nice exchanges between the two of you.
Another dreadful music selection. Five guys plugged into a wall outlet does not a band make.
Sometimes sales people do silly things. In this day and age when people of all income levels dress very casually and look upon ironed clothes as some form Medieval punishment it behooves sales people to talk to everyone.

  • Hi Brian, enjoyed the change in format, would like to hear that again in the future. Love Virginias and VaPers as well, and Luxury Twist Flake.Enjoyed listening to Russ, he is very well-versed in the hobby.I would have loved to had a pipe with Billy Martin and Sparky Anderson and talk baseball with two of the greatest managers in the game.Sorry to hear about your great uncle, may he rest in peace.Happy New Year Brian!
