Peterson University Flake Pipe Tobacco Review

Drucquers Banner

While being a slightly aromatic blend, there are high quality tobaccos at work here too. There is a Burley nuttiness and a light Virginia sweetness combined with a smoky fire-cured Kentucky that makes for a well-rounded flavor. If you are 100% strictly against any hint of top flavoring, then stay away. However, if you have more eclectic tastes like I do and like to explore, you may find that you enjoy the Peterson University Flake as much as I do.

Of course everyone’s taste is different and sometimes one tin can be different from another, and there are always other variables at play. I’ve read reviews from people that didn’t like the top flavor, but I think it is not overbearing and that it blends well with the Burley, Virginia and Kentucky tobaccos. There’s certainly no doubt that others in the room when you’re smoking this blend will find it quite acceptable and some members of the family may even suggest that you smoke it more often for it certainly is pleasant.

By its very name it’s obvious that this blend comes as a flake. It looks delicious, almost edible, but you’d be better off smoking it. Just be sure to rub it out – just put it between your palms and make a rolling, rubbing motion to break it up before filling your pipe. Some people prefer to cut it with scissors instead. It will burn much more easily if you do choose to cut or rub it and give you a much more pleasant smoke.
I’ve heard that the original version of this blend was quite heavy with nicotine but the latest offering is not so laden with it so if you tried that first version and were put off by the nicotine content then I think that it might be worth trying again. I’ve certainly come to like it more and more and I have to say that it’s probably becoming one of my favorites.
If you like an occasional high-quality aromatic with high-quality tobacco that doesn’t bite, then try Peterson’s University Flake.
