Hello My Name is Lance Dahl I am a fire Fighter in Washington St. Have been a cigar smoker since well before the JR bb days and a pipe smoker for longer than that. I have been a reader here for only a short while and the Brothers of the Briar BB for a little longer. I have read and posted on the ASP for many years but not regularly as raising kids and two busy jobs have taken up much of my time. I look forward to reading and posting here some and learning more. I have a Small collection of about 30 pipes, 8 by Mark Tinsky, I really like his Black & Tans, a couple by his old partner Curt Rollar. 5 Petersons, 3 Stanwells, two Castleford bent Bulldogs, 4-5 meerschaums, a Bosi cutty, 2 Kirstens and 6-7 misc yard pipes, and probably a few I have forgot about. Yea like the 2 Nording hunting pipes!!

Welcome Ray!
Greetings. I just joined today.
A little about me: I have a small collection of Savinelli pipes, and a couple by other makers. I'm not really into fancy pipes, I just like a good briar in a shape I like.
I goes back and forth between aromatics and non-aromatics. Some of my current favorites are Milan Sunset Rum and Sangria, and Boswell Penn. Dutch Treat, along with a couple of non-aromatic favorites.
My latest experiment was blending McC Three Cherry with 1-Q (half-and-half) to reduce the cherry flavor just a little. The jury is still out on that one.
Anyway, I'm glad to be a part of the forum and look forward to getting to know the folks here.
Welcome Alleycat!

I just joined this morning and look forward to being in the group. I noticed that I have already picked up three new friends but I am at a lost to figure out how they knew that I had just joined. At any rate, thanks for the welcome.
I've been collecting and smokking pipes for over forty years now and just picked up pipes 105 through 110 at the Chicago show. My first visit to the Chicago show and I must say it was most impressive.
I'm been a member of Smokers Forum for several years and imagine many of you folks here are also members there.
Dave

Hello. My name is Tyler, I'm in Fredericksburg, VA. I've been smoking a pipe since I graduated high school (1997), when a friend of mine was trying to buy me some cherry cigars to celebrate, and accidentally bought me some cherry pipe tobacco. My Grandfather smokes a pipe, and I loved the way his house smells, so I figured I'd go with it, and bought myself a Dr. Grabow pipe, and have enjoyed it ever since. Admittedly, I'm still a n00b after 13 years, I only smoke a few ounces a year (usually on camping trips or Jeep trail rides). My pipes are all cheap ($15 or less), but I keep them clean and rotate them often (often enough, anyway). I bought my first tin of tobacco just the other day (as opposed to an ounce of loose tobacco), and was looking up reviews on it (CAO's Eileen's Dream), and that's how I stumbled upon this site. As a n00b, I don't spend too much money on pipes/paraphernalia yet, I feel like it might be wasted on me until I learn a bit more. I have the same philosophy about cigars and wine, now that I think about it. But maybe if I'm more involved in a smoking community, I'll learn more and I'll get out there and try some new things.
Anyway, thanks for the welcome (I have 4 or 5 "friends" already!), and I look forward to learning a lot more about pipes and pipe smoking.
Welcome Tyler!
Glad that you found our community and be sure to ask any questions that you might have. We have a great bunch of guys and gals here that are always ready to help out!
Glad to have you Tyler.
Welcome Tyler. Virginia is where it all started. For the rest of the world anyway.
Hello boys,
I've had an account for a while but never really reached out into the community. I'm married to a dude named Shaun who is on this site but I still can't find his supposed account.
He restores pipes and I tout them here.
I'm 28 years old and last year we finalized the adoption of our 3 gorgeous children! Since then I've been on and offline visiting doctors who have finally come to a conclusion that I have lupus and fibromyalgia. Now that THAT is out of the way, I can continue on with my obsessions - books, art, pipes, and decorating. Every now and again, I pass wisdom on to the little people.
I'm glad to see the site doing so well and hopefully I'll have my profile set to my liking soon.
Shaun is a lucky dude, and we are glad to have you aboard. I am sorry for your illness. Feel free to pass some wisdom : )
Welcome Tyler! Dr. Grabows and drug store tobacco is just as welcome here as Dunhills and 50 year-old 965 tobacco.
Thanks for signing up and posting your introduction. There's no such thing as a dumb question here either.
Lastly, if you are enjoying yourself, then you are doing it right.
------------------------
Hello again Cyndi! I remember when you signed up originally, and glad you made it back to participate more.
Congrats on adopting three children! That's awesome. I was adopted myself.
I hope your illnesses don't cause you too much trouble.
Here is Shaun's profile.

You should "friend" him.
Thanks for helping me find him here! LOL We met when he moved in 5 houses down the street from me and both my siblings became friends with him before they finally convinced me to talk to him. It seems I'm a little oblivious to my surroundings.
I think he's a lucky guy that I spoke to him, too. He didn't realize it though - I had to run off his current girlfriend and convince him that he really did want to be with me forever. 11 years later... lol
Welcome Cyndi!
Hello all!
I look forward to sharing this new found pleasure.
Hello Zarb!
Hey Zarb. Thanks for joining.
Welcome to all the new folks!
Welcome to all the new members.
There seems to be a good crop of relative new pipe smokers lately.
It looks like the future of pipe smoking is assured.
Can't wait to see all the pictures and posts.
I am glad to be a member here and talk with other pipe smokers. I smoke pipes for 30 years now (started at 12 with my uncle's pipe) and it's my true passion.
Denis
Welcome Denis!
Hi, I'm Marty and I live in Cornelius, NC. My screen name came from my former Chocalate Lab named Hobie.

I haven't touched a pipe since 1976 but have the urge to take it up again. I've been a rather outspoken opponent of cigarette smoking for quite awhile as I can't stand to smell it ( usually gives me an instant headache ). Must be the arsenic(rat poison), hydrogen cyanide ( used to kill several million Jews in WW II), formaldehyde, Benzene, Acetone, etc.
I have alot of hobbies and am a Photo Whore too. I like to race karts:

I'm working on my son's kart at Road Atlanta.

We also like to test drive exotic cars:

Pretty serious into audio and video. My son has his own company that sells subwoofers of his design. This is one of his former 15" subs

I like to build speakers too. This is the last set that was 8 feet tall

But now I'm making the move to high efficiency speakers. I found this 1941 RCA Shearer bass cabinet that had been in my home town theater since 1941 and was recently unhooked and sat off to the side. It is 106db/1 watt and filled up the whole theater driven by a 60 watt tube amp.

I just built some mid/tweeter cabinets that are also 106db eff to match the bass bin.

I also just found a 1943 RCA "Ubangi" theatre speaker as well from a theater in Stauton, Va.

I also build subwoofers made from concrete Sonotube forms. This one is a 24" diameter tuned to 14hz that I'm building for a friend who has (4) of our 15'woofers in sealed tubes. These big boys are a ported design

woofer fires down to the floor.

Also have a serious addiction to motorcycles. Have had 14 so far. just bought a new 2003 leftover Cannondale MX bike..fuel injected, electric start 48HP.

Last 3 bikes were Honda 750 VFR's

I like going on vacation to the British Virgin Islands..my favorite place on Earth.

we went last year to this villa where my daughter got married.

Diving is unreal...visibility of 100ft +

OK, that's it for now, anyway, I'm now collecting info on pipes again and just emailed my brother to see if they kept any of my grandfathers collection of pipes. I'll likely be smoking all Butterscotch flavors as that is my favorite flavor in life. I found out about Trout Stream, Altadis-Creamy Butterscotch, and Nordings Hunter Blend-Retriever, which are all supposed to be what I'm searching for. Any extra input is what I'm here to find from you guys and gals.
Marty

Welcome guys. I have learned more about pipes, tobacco, and pipe smokers in 1 year on this site, than I did the 5 previous years I smoked before. If that made any damn sense. Thanks for the pics Marty. They're great.
Hi, my name is Lane. I smoke pipes and tobacco. Looks to me that this is a picture book site.
Great pics Marty. There is just something cool about 8' tall cabinets ha ha ha. Good to see you here Lane.
Cheers.
P.
Don't worry Lane, I am not much of a picture guy myself. My computer doesn't seem to want to do that. Welcome to the site.
Just joined this group, looks quite lively! I am 25 years old, been smoking a pipe for about 7 years now also smoke occasional cigars. look forward to future discussion.
Welcome Denis!
