Congrats to your little brother. Is he in the 25th ID ? That was what we called Tropic Lighting or the Electric Strawberry!! But that was a while back :D

I always thought Army Specialists got a raw deal. Unlike E-4s in the Navy, Marine Corps,and Coast Guard, Specialists (and Air Force Sr. Airmen) aren't NCOs. I personally think your brother's promotion should come with the same privileges that most of the other services offer.

I talked to him and he said he is 25th ID but when he re-enlists which should be soon, he's going to switch to Airborne. (He's already done the Air Assault school for artillery. He also won Soldier of the Month, twice.)
