I have a few pipes of lesser known brands that just aren't marketed much or widely. Kind of fun to have a few rare ducks. The ones that come immediately to mind are Gianni, a bent billiard, likely made in italy but purchased for me in Rotterdam Holland, and a Kemperling, an Austrian pipe, a handsome bent Rhodesian. I also have a number of hand-carved Jerry Perry pipes, a pipe maker in the foothills of N.C. What are your exotics that Forums members may not know?

I bought a pipe made by a guy named Simone Gilli. He is an artisan maker out of Italy. I bought mine brand new from an auction by treasurepipes on Ebay. It has a nice old Dunhill look to it and that is what he mainly carves. The pipe smokes pretty good but the stem work is not as nice as most of my artisan pipes. I got a good deal at 175.00 as his pipes normally sell for around 250.00.
Here is a pic of the Gilli, it is a paneled pipe which I do like the looks of.

I like the "Crown" pipes. Their basket pipes that I get at my local B&M. They smoke just as good as my Savinelli pipes and the drilling, on the pipes I bought, is spot on.

Philippe Bargiel Straight Bulldog.
Philippe Bargiel made pipes for the French firm Sommer.Later in life ,he began crafting Meerschaum pipes in the town of Crepy-en-Valois.He was,to my knowledge, the only maker who treated the meerschaum stumels in melted Whale oil. This oil treatment was supposed to assist in drawing the tars and resins outward, and away from the tobacco chamber, preserving the smoking qualities of the pipe, and aiding in the formation of the patina.
This is one of his briars, purchased by myself in 1998 in Paris at a shop named A l'Oriental.Saddly,Mr. Bargiel passed away about ten years ago.

A little better known, owned by several Forums members, but long discontinued are the Danish factory pipes, Bari. They're nicely produced and durable in handsome traditional shapes, if you happen to see an estate in good shape. i was given mine as a gift by my late wife's aunt one Christmas maybe 38 years ago. It's been well smoked but still looks quite new and smokes better than ever. I like that Bargiel; the colored stem sets off the understated bulldog briar nicely.

An ebay pickup for a song a few years ago, unsmoked. A Dirk Claessen 1/4 Bent Smooth Straight Grain Danish Apple Shape.

"Dirk Claessen is a Belgian pipe maker residing at the Costa Blanca in Spain."
Another real steal from the bay was a lovely billiard by American Charles Cole. Sorry, I don't have a picture of that one.

I have a Silvano made pipe that is stamped with the name decimo. Fantastic smoker.

I have a Duncan super grain that smokes extremely well. It is a small nose warmer with a large bowl.

dmc', that is a gorgeous pipe. I chuckled when you i.d.'ed it as a Danish apple, only because of an experience I had. My wife gave me a huge Johs pipe about eight Christmases ago, about the biggest pipe I have, almost "brad-worthy," referring to our big pipe Forums guy. I looked it over and thought it was surely a brandy, and called it that for a few months, until I came across the invoice on which it was named an apple. Since my wife spent her working career in and around NYC, I now call it my Big Apple. When I saw your pipe, I thought immediately it was an egg. But if the carvers say they're apple, they're apple. When in Copenhagen, do as they do.

I have only the U.S. known French pipes, but they are great value for the dollar (or Euro).

As Paul said Jeantet are pretty good pipes.I got a pair of Gr. 1 sized bent billiard and a bing esttes from Denmark a few years ago. One of my best pipes for smoking strong blends or when I want to have a very intense smoke. both are Jubilee models made in 1951 and oil cured as well.
Cheers,

Chris

I have a Refbjerg billiard. Although chunky and a little heavy, the stem is very good, so clenching is ok. I use it mainly for evening smokes with some of my stronger blends, like ODF or Lakeland Dark.

Once your photos are on a photo hosting site (such as Imgur.com; Postimage; Dropbox, etc. Photobucket), or on virtually any site, including this site's album such as eBay; Amazon Pinterest; Facebook; an online Pipe retailer; you-name-it, select the full sized image, then Control-click (Mac) or Right-click (Windows) on the image itself, then choose "copy image location" or similar words. Now paste that URL (the full web address, which should end in .jpg or .png) into the IMG box in the reply window of the thread you're posting to.
The site's album is also a good choice for displaying photos, and the same method works for obtaining the image's URL for copying into the IMG box.
There are other good illustrations and steps on how to post photos under "Latest Discussions" in different formats:
