So after a time I've finally crossed over to Englishes and now I want to get into Latakia style blends, I've been reading about Blend No. 5 by Sutliff and wanted to know if it is a good starter or is there a better blend to start out with.

I think it's mild enough to start with, if you're looking to ramp up. It's good stuff. I really don't think you will be dissapointed.

This blend isn't the mildest Latakia blend around, but it's not overly heavy either. It's a very nice blend.Well worth trying.

You're fine with Sutliff No. 5. It's fairly mild, but if it's a bit much for you, toss in a pinch of Carter Hall.

Dunhill Early Morning Pipe and McClelland Frog Morton Original are nice mild blends to transition into English blends as well.
