Trying to Identify Pipe Maker by Symbol

A friend acquired a beautiful straight rusticated bulldog with a Cumberland stem bearing a script R with the bottom left side turning into a pipe bowl. Any ideas as to the maker?

Sounds like a Rattray's or a Refbjerb is there any other marking anywhere? Like the country of origin for the briar... That would help a lot. Or a picture... There are a lot of "R" pipe makers.
