RIP, I’ve actually had the honor of meeting him a few times concerning our local art museum. He was very active in the art world, and a great supporter of the arts.
96 is a good run.

I was fortunate to meet him at a local bookstore signing in my neighbourhood in Brooklyn years ago and get a book signed. I was supposed to mail him a caricature I had done of him for the Village Voice, but life got in the way and I never did—I was hoping to initiate some art talk and see if we could schedule doing some life drawing together at the Art Students League on 57th Street in Manhattan.
Someone once asked him if he ever got tired of singing "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" and he snapped back "Do you ever get tired of making love?"
He was a man who made being pleasant look important. God bless him.
I never met him, but I ate at one of his favorite restaurants in Queens, Manducatis, at the end of the bridge from Manhattan. The couple who owned the restaurant were proud to have him as a regular.

Sad to hear this news. Frank Sinatra’s favorite singer says a lot about Mr. Anthony Dominick Benedetto’s creative impact. I’m sorry that I didn’t see him perform a few years ago. The last of the great crooners. He’ll be missed. RIP 
Not one of his best regarded songs, means a lot to me though, all the same.
