Tobacco Cards

I know they probably don't have value, but I have accumulated a number of complete sets of 1920-1930ish sets.
The John Player and Sons is cool because it's pics of the entire process from ground to the store.
The "Types of the World" is 50. No company logo. The images are incredible.
Any ideas on the background?

That's really awesome. I love tobacco memorabilia like that. There's a great little antique "shop" near me that has a tobacco collection - Stamos, postcards, ashtrays, lighters, etc. This would be a really cool find. I'll have to Google for some back story on this.

Might not be worth much money but they are collectible. One in every fag packet back then. When illiteracy was high, those cards educated a lot of people.

Those are really cool! I'm surprised that they aren't more valuable $$$. I guess tobacco inserts didn't become a commodity until they started putting baseball players on those cards.

I am such a sucker for these types of things. My local in the 90's had a brand of Chinese cigs that came with cards. I bought more of them then I should have even though they were terrible cigarettes.

I had a set from Churchman's Cigarettes pre-WW1 featuring rugby players. I was told by my Uncle that Churchman's used to put them in the packets of 10 cigarettes to act as a stiffener. It seemed like a reasonable idea but how true it is I have no idea.

I suppose today if they were putting cigarette cards in packs they would have sets of 'America's Greatest LBTQ Stars' or sets of 'Dylan Mulvaney & Drag Friends' posing in twenty different tasteful fashions outside your local church!
