I had 2, one had a ceramic bowl with the Calabash Gourd, the other a block Meerschaum bowl with Calabash Gourd, both are now with friends. My Calabash pipe these days is one by Maigurs Knets all briar with a Masur Birch Cap.

I just recently reactivated my pipe collection. Took a break for a while. I have a beautiful BC Gourd Calabash. And like a fool, I dropped it. Snapped right at the gourd, where the gourd meets the mortise joint, which attaches to the stem.
Does anyone know where I can get a hold of one? I will need to carefully ream out the end of the gourd to remove where the mortise joint is snapped, then put the new one in.
Any information anyone can give me would be most appreciated.
Thanks

@ysoitney That sucks! BC makes a great calabash, harder to find these days so definitely worth having repaired properly, I'm sure one of the professional repair folks out there can help you. Are you able to post any pics of the break?

I have two gourd calabashes, have to admit I bought them just for their looks.

They have some sort of esoteric appeal to me.
Might buy another but what I want is a Strambach.

Unfortunately they've become very rare the last years.

Nowadays I can't find them anywhere, but a couple of years ago

every decent tobacconist seemed to have one or two Strambach's

in store.
So I've searched around and mailed the viennese company but

got no answer.
Does anyone here know what happened to the company, or why they

are hard to find these days?

Have production stopped?
Of course I know there are other gourd calabashes to be found

but I prefer the Strambach look exclusively.

I believe they were having trouble getting good quality gourds and I read somewhere the Lady who owns Strambach was retiring.

I have 2, one I bought online about 2 years ago and as far as the online shops go it was the last one available and cost about £300, and I have another that I bought on ebay last year. The seller didn't realise it was a Strambach, I could tell straight away it was due to the shape of the meerschaum bowl and the colour and shape of the stem. Anyway I paid £60 and it was a bargain as it had hardly been used and came with a nice wooden stand.

Ebay seems to be your best bet although I think I've only seen 2 or 3 on there in the last couple of years.
Here's a picture of the one I bought online

And the ebay one

And this one's a Fikri Baki that was a LOT more expensive than the Strambachs but these are readily available and are about the best you can get when it comes to gourd calabashes.

Loneredtree, I don't know. It's not mine. I just remembered that I had seen it earlier.

OK I sent again. My listing shows it went out before.
On the forum page look at the right hand corner. A space down a bit will show if you have a message.
BTW found the gourd.

loneredtree, I think there is some confusion here with quotes?

New member"asduskun" has a bowl and stem but needs a gourd.

I have neither but quoted "asduskun" when i posted a link to ebay.

I misunderstood your post and thought you had a bowl but no gourd or stem.
