Iwan Ries isn't exactly close. About 11 hours lol. And yes their taxes are rough but for me it was well worth the experience. For those who haven't been there it's on the second floor of an old downtown building. When you enter they have a few old relic pipes from various points in time. The store has been owned and operated by the same family since 1857, which makes it the oldest family owned business in Chicago! They have a huge stock of pipes, tobacco, pipe supplies, and cigars! They also have a great selection of only top of the line estate pipes. There was a rusticated Savinelli bulldog that I almost bought for 42 bucks but I am very frugal. Probably the only regret from Chicago lol.
