I've been buying and selling quite a few pipes in the past month, trying to really nail down what works for me.

So far, cobs have been winning that race, even against some other "higher quality" pipes, but I recently pulled the trigger on this used Roma 305 on SP and I am digging it.

Smokes great, and feels awesome in the hand.

I initially had moved away from smaller pipes, but now that my smoking technique has gotten better, I think I'm self correcting back in the direction of this size pipe.

Now, just need to try a 311 and 321 next, lol.

I have the Impero Smooth 321 and it is a nice size with a real nice draw. The MM cobs for me are the measuring stick for a great draw.
Having said that the Savinelli EX size is what I am really getting comfortable with as I progress.
Nice looking pipe btw!

Yeah, I've watched Pipe Nook's video on the 321 vs 320 size and 321 look just right to me.

But I'm a little more smitten w the 311 at the moment, lol.

Just have to unload a couple more pipes!

My Savinelli Roma 111KS is my lat blend pipe and performs very well. I like the thin, understated ring on this series.
Your 305 looks very similar in size and shape to my Stanwell #86, which I just put into service with GH&Co Dark Flake. It's early yet, but so far a good first impression.
Congrats on moving one step closer to finding what you like. Just be careful. That pooch is looking like, "What's he doing with my pipe?"

I have a Trevi 320 ks and a Dolomiti 321

The 320 is my all time favorite pipe it was the first sav

I bought and I have never looked back I currently own 5

And the 673 is next on my list

The 321 is a close second

This pipe is absolutely fantastic smokes wonderful feels

Great in the hand very light weight and in my opinion

The perfect bowl size not tiny but not huge

It’s just that perfect in between for a quick satisfying smoke

If your on the fence... jump... you won’t be disappointed

If you have an inclination to smoke flake, plug, rope or coin "cut" tobacco, you will find that a smaller bowl can give a longer smoke, comparable to a medium size pipe with loose tobacco.

For my hands, the 673 is an almost perfect shape.
I call it the Ethiopian 320.

Pipes were all much smaller back in the day when ropes and plugs were all the rage. Think clay pipes....dinky.

A few years ago everybody wanted a pipe as big as their fist, but that trend seems to be waning a bit.

I really like the chamber size on the 305. Everything burns well in it.

Just got is brother, a Roma 123, and it’s a bit deeper and it does make a difference.

So far, I like the 305 for my VAs almost exclusively.
