I have been long intrigued (even before I recently entered the world of pipe smoking) with the Savinelli 305 model. I'm considering purchasing it in the Tortuga Smooth finish, but, before I do, I'm wondering if anyone has any past experience with it: is it a good smoker? What (and I realise everyone has differing opinions) tobacco type is best suited to the bowl size? Any pics?

I don't have a 305 but I do own about 10 Savs. I've never been disappointed with them and, for my money, they are hard to beat. That Tortuga is a handsome pipe. If has a filter it should come with an adaptor which I recommend using unless you like a very open draw. It looks like a great pipe for flakes and plugs. Good luck with your decision.

I have owned a numebr of Sav's over the years and all have smoked very nicely. My first pipe I ever bought was the Savinelli Linea Pui 5, still have it and still smokes great. Bought it in 1999.
