That is a damn fine pipe. I can almost feel it in the hand now. Comfy for sure.

That thought popped into my head when I viewed the first picture, and I've never made a pipe!
I was able to check out a BST yesterday at the Boswells event, one of the Philly guys had a beautiful taper-stem Rhodesian, I should have taken a picture of it (he's member of the PipeSmokersDen forum).

I have one ball shape pipe, an artisan Jerry Perry done in Mountain Laurel with line etchings on the bowl, full bent. It's a different animal but has the same sturdy mass of briar in hand. Mountain Laurel doesn't have the bright grain, but an interesting matte surface.
