Recommend a Fix for Varnish Wearing Off Bowl Rim

While I'm usually pretty careful to not burn the rim as I light my pipes, over time the varnish/finish wore off this Hilson Vintage Walnut Paneled Billiard.

Anyone have an easy DIY fix? Top it? Strip the entire pipe? Any help appreciated!

I'd just buff it with carnuba wax.

I would strip the varnish off the pipe all together and give a buff and wax.

Years ago, I stripped my Rossi after the finish on the rim started bubbling. Literally bubbling while smoking. I Just took a rag and acetone, and took it all off in about a minute. So much happier with the results.
