R.I.P. indeed. I know that much of our image of this man was his public persona, but his personal life did not detract from his public image. I have fond images of the Andy Griffith show because we use to watch it in reruns every Sunday afternoon. I am always in search of a little "Mayberry" in my life.

hobie1dog: They interviewed Ron Howard on CBS News This Morning. He was very kind and sentimental towards Mr. Griffith. It seems they had a wonderful relationship. They also interviewed Randy Travis and he had nothing but praise for Andy Griffith. Good stuff. It's probably on the CBS website if you want to check it out.

I was born the same day as Ron Howard, March 1st 1954. Watching reruns of Mayberry always brought back memories. Andy was like a dad to me....

I heard on TV that Andy and Frances Bavier, "Aunt Bee", didn't get along at all.

Andy had acknowledged that there was something about him she just couldn't stand.

Whatever issues she had with him though, she kept it to herself.
