I have to tell you the story of the last three. Most of the next week's paintings are from the Rijks in Amsterdam. It's a glorious web site with huge, high-def, images of their paintings. Except that when I tried to post them I noticed only part of the painting showed up. Each of their paintings is made up of 9-15 separate images. The way I'm handling it is two-fold. The first two images I was able to find alternate sources. For the third painting I had to find each of the separate pieces, put them back together into something looking like the painting, keeping all the proportions for each of the pieces while reducing it for forum size. If I have to do that with many more of them theu may trickle in for awhile.

Love me the 17th century peasanty paintings, and Jan Steen's always been one of my favorites. Thanks ed :) I like the lean kitchen: twelve people, one fish, and I can't make out what else. Guess the baby won't be eating any of the fish, though.

That last one's interesting. Dude on the left has an aftermarket bit in his pipe, pipe on the floor lower left looks like it's too short to smoke anymore, and guy in the center looks like he's about to blow another smoke ring.

The Rijks is an amazing place. All I needed was an email only account at the museum. You can download huge image files of their pieces, parts of pieces, all kinds of stuff you can do to the image. Oh, and there is the ad you have to see every time

you download, reassuring you that they can paint your car like your favorite masterpiece. That is too cool.

Richard Feynman was at a coffee shop one time and a guy who didn't recognize him came over and asked, 'Dude, why do you have Feynman diagrams all over the side of your van?'

It says the squiggly photon in the middle (γ), can interact with two electrons (e), in a particle and antiparticle, that is an electron and a positron, or with a muon (μ) and an antimuon, and still conserve the electron and muon numbers. But you can't have a muon decay into an electron and a photon.
It's an easy way to produce muons in a low energy electron collider. Smash an electron into a positron and sometimes you get a muon and an antimuon, which you can detect experimentally. You need this for electroweak theory.
I'd so paint a Feynman diagram on the trunk lid of my car.

I loved the Travelers at Rest. If you're going to wear knickers you better be packing some heat.

And the "writer". I bet dinner with him would be just fabulous dawwwwling.
