When I was new to pipe smoking, I'd heard of keeping a log book, which I did for about the first year. I'd make a note of the pipe, tobacco, how long the bowl burned, etc. Eventually, I realized that this didn't really add anything to the experience and I pretty much knew how long a bowl would last.
I moved on to using a small memo book and just writing the date, the pipe, and a "C" at the end of each entry once I'd cleaned the pipe. I like this way much better, since all I really need to keep on top of is maintenance.
At the beginning of the year, the library was giving out free weekly planners with mock leather trim, this will be my system from here out since I really like the layout.
Do any of you keep a similar record?
