Which is better for storing pipe stem?

I would assume that both would be sufficient for preventing oxidation, but is one better than the other?

Also the carnauba wax applied with a buffer.

Obsidian. Carnuba can be used on the stem, but Obsidian Protects from UV. Carnuba is a finish, but eventually will rub off. Obsidian is absorbed.
Thank you. Thats exactly what I wanted to know.

My follow up question is how often should the obsidian oil be reapplied for pipes that aren't used much and are mostly stored?

Yes, my pipes are behind glass in a cabinet, but that cabinet is in the finished basement, so no sunlight.

I've sometimes wondered about putting it on the main floor in a more prominent spot (I do love the look of a pipe display), but sunlight has been one factor that's held me back (...6 crazy kids and 2 giant dogs have been another...).
