The Hartford Reading Society is an informal group of pipe smokers. We are uncomplicated. No dues, no officers, just monthly get togethers where we smoke and talk. We are going to visit The Owl Shop in New Haven Connecticut on Sunday January 15, 2023 at noon owlshopcigars.com
The Owl has a full bar, coffee drinks also available.
This is a good opportunity for those with commitments during the week, or who are far from Hartford, to get a chance to join us. We hope to see you there !

Ten of us were there from the opening at noon, until 6pm. Everyone had a great time. One of the group came from Long Island to tell us the benefits of associating with the United Pipe Clubs of America. We also resolved to have 4 get togethers per year at the Owl Shop, on staggered Sundays. We want this for a few reasons. Some members are in the southern part of the state, so that is a closer proximity to them. It's also difficult for some members to attend our Thursday meetings because of commitments. and by having the Extra meetings on staggered Sundays, if any member has a commitment on certain Sundays, they still have a chance to meet with us. At our next meeting on February 9, we will discuss what the group will do to celebrate International Pipe Smoking Day. IPSD falls on Feb 20, we will likely observe it on Saturday Feb 18. Monthly meetings are held at The Tobacco Shop LLC, Pratt St Hartford, on the second Thursday of the month from 7pm to 10pm.
