Need Help With a Date!

on a tin that is...

If I'm looking at this right, I have a 2005 date on this can. Can anybody confirm/deny? Some of my pipe smoking friends have arguing as to whether its a date code or not.

I have two cans with the same code stamp, one I jarred awhile back, the other is still sealed in the can.

That's what I thought after some research on here, but the gentleman at my B&M had a lengthy argument with me saying "he swears on his life he's never kept a McClelland tin on the shelf that long."

I'm going to head back this weekend and see if there are other well-aged tins waiting for me, I believe he mentioned a sealed pack of Penzance that's been there for a while!

Blend # 35, 9th batch of 2005. It could have easily sat at Mcclelland's for several years before being shipped to a retailer. I have bought tins from high volume dealers that are three or four years old.
