With the very generous help and guidance I received from Dave G and Gloucesterman I completed my first restoration project.
It is a Savinelli Milano De Luxe 504.
Although I can see a lot of details that need work, I'm very pleased with the end result and I'm smoking it as I type.
Some before, during and after pics.
To celebrate the completion I got me a proper pipe stand and some extra goodies.
Cheers,
J

It is very satisfying DaveT!
What it is not satisfying at all is that I misspelled the thread's title and I cannot correct it... :(
Typing with your boxing gloves on seems to never work as expected...

Bungee:
You did great, pard.
If that was my first attempt there would've been no - repeat - no white line left on the stem.
Thankfully, I learned on beat to shit over the counter burners. I wouldn't have had the stones to attempt a Sav my first time out of the chute.
That's a good looking bulldog.

Very impressive first. I think there is something special about smoking a pipe that you rescued. That's an excellent result. You have some talent. Keep up the good work. Dutch

Looks good! Sandblast/ rustic surfaces are definitely harder than conventional smooth pipes, so that was a heck of a job. Especially for a first restoration. Enjoy!

Nice work bungee! Thanks for sharing the pics.

I'm working on a 1940's yello-bole, will share pics soon.

How does the Savinelli smoke?
