Legendary performer Mickey Rooney has died at age 93. He had a monster career particularly in the 1930's & 1940's. It is hard to explain to people to day just how big he was in his day.His "Andy Hardy" movies as well as the "let's put on a show" movies with Judy Garland were were huge.
The diminutive performer never quite made it as a true adult actor though he did have a number of successes spread out over the years.
He is probably best know today as a guy who got married to 8 different women.

He was a piper, maybe not in his later years but he was a pipe smoker.

I always loved watching him - and he was an older fellow when I watched him. He was great, and will be missed.

He was a real vaudeville kid; his parents were both performers and he started in theater as a young child.

He really wore his heart on his sleeve and could put it all out there in film and on stage. Some of his

interviews made me cringe, he seemed so hungry for an audiences approval, whatever he had to say to

win that. He and Judy Garland were a song and dance team made in vaudeville heaven.
