I've heard Granger described sometimes as having a hints of cherry. Also, perhaps consider Smoker's Pride?

Both were readily available 40 years ago. Did Captain Black produce it's cherry blend back then? I can't remember seeing it.

No, but my grandfather smoked pipes and I used to go to the drug store with him to get his tobacco. I remember what he smoked and also know what brands have been around long enough to fit the original posters criteria.

I've only been smoking pipes since 1998ish.
Sorry if that came off snarky, I was just attempting a funny, knowing that we're about the same age. :)

For whatever it’s worth, apparently you can still find Middleton Cherry out there in some B&M stores because I ran across some and bought it today out of sheer nostalgia! It’s been ages since I last had it and lord only knows how long it’s been on the shelf but I doubt it’s possible to dry it out completely, lol.

Guess I’ll find out if it’s mummy dust when I unseal the box and pouch.
