Sunday was a breezy warm day and KC with lots going on at 2015 KC Pipe Show. We had the slow smoke contest, the announcement of Best in Show Awards, and the drawing for the winning raffle ticket ticket in the 2015 KC Pipe Carving Contest. Attendance was light due to the club not realizing last June that the 21st would be Father's Day.
The Smoking Contest was Over seen by Steve Butler. We try to follow the CIPC rules but some times common sense has to take a part in these things. Due to the windy conditions we cut the guys some slack on their pipes lit. The winners of the contest were Dave Houfek (47:08), Eric Todd (43:21) and Bill Miller (39:31). These are impressive times considering the breeze we had.
Steve Butler getting out the contest pipes. The pipes were supplied by Tobacco Pipe Import (Kevin Brackett) out of Seattle.

Steve Fallon trying desperately not to be the first man out. Steve Butler had told the contestants (true story) that last year's "first out" died shortly afterwards.

After that the only thing of great note was when Brian Levine announced that if you wanted some free tobacco just come to his table. There were a bunch of very nice Mac Baren tins (unopened). The stampede was amazing. And it was mainly big guys. Watching Cliff Stark & Reverend Rolf stampede from the corner of the hall to that table was hilarious. A film of that would be a killer.
