Can't say enough good things about working with Clark. If you're at all thinking about commissioning a piece, I highly recommend you reach out to him. He's getting more and more busy, so get your name on the waiting list sooner rather than later. It's totally worth the wait.
I've wanted a bent poker for awhile and figured it would be my first commissioned piece. We traded a few sketches and I told him what I had in mind. I wanted a plateaued rim that was partially smooth. I also asked for flared rim as well just to give it some more character.
He's got some good info on his site about choosing materials. I went with a white stem with ivory swirls. The stem is acrylic since I figured I wouldn't be clenching this one. The stain is the dark red/brown contrast.
I also like how the tamper completely matches the curvature of the shank and the stem.
Again, Clark is a pleasure to work with. He totally nailed what I was looking for, and then some.
Let me know if you have any questions. I'm happy to get them answered.
