I have a few strawberry wood pipes, but I think that strawberry wood is a form of briar. It has birdseye and many qualities that just seem to be in the briar family. Even the plateau on it just seems briar-ish. It is lighter in weight and color, more air-y, and has less aroma to it than the rest of the briars.
I would be curious to know exactly what it is, but I am sure that it is a "type" of briar.

I have been curious to know about pear wood, and now I think I have enough information from all of your inputs that I am going to buy me one.
