I recently purchased a White Wizard pipe from MacQueen and this is my first experience with a pipe made from Ashwood. Do you clean Ashwood pipes like you would Briar pipes?

I would not hesitate to smoke a pipe made of ash. It is certainly a hard wood, comparable to oak. If they make baseball bats out of it, it has to be sturdy. It is not as hard / durable as briar. There is no significant scent to it like elm.
The site below on wood toxicity shows ash is an irritant. But that is referring to the sawdust, not the wood itself. The woodworker is the one taking the risk, not the user.

Great looking pipe. Let us know how smokes. I have never heard anything bad about MacQueen pipes. They did have trouble with delivery a while back.
