I was going through some old boxes and found a Ben Wade freestyle pipe I bought back around 1989 (college days). I thought I lost it years ago. I think I will smoke some Peterson University Flake with it.

Yep, that looks like a Preben Holm era BW. I have one similar to it, but it's from the Martinique line, and is a fine smoker. Here it is. Sorry about the bad pic from a webcam.

On a more serious note, Preben Holm started the modern Danish freehand movement that turned the stuffy world of classic English shapes on its head. Preben was prolific, but is still highly collectible because his work doesn't come on the market too often. He had a bunch of followers, and just about every Danish style freehand pipe maker owes something to his influence on pipe making. Pipedia.org should have a bunch of info on him. He died in 1989.
