Finally made a Pipe Retort

Finally made my pipe retort. Think I may tweak it a little bit.


I cut the surgical tube a little shorter and it worked better. I was sanitizing a flea bay estate Savinell pipe I picked up.

I had thoroughly cleaned this pipe till my pipe cleaners and q-tips came out clean.

Very nice. I have always seen them with a test tube, never thought to use a beaker.

I've been wanting to make one but I wasn't sure I'd even use it. I've heard the heat sometimes melts the stem. What did you use for the heat source, candle/tea light or stove top? What kind of alcohol spirit or isopropyl, proof?

I wouldn't try but I wonder how it'd affect a meerschaum pipe. Maybe it would help color it.

I've never seen one made from a beaker either. Neat idea!
