Carving briar like meerschaum - Incredible work

I've come across a pipe maker on Instagram that makes ridiculously detailed carvings in a style I've only ever seen with meerschaum pipes, except that this guy seems to use briar. Pretty incredible stuff. I think he's Albanian. He has no website, only an Instagram account with an email address, so I'm guessing he's commission-only. That's incredible! I looked through some of his photos and he mentioned that he sold one of the Gandalf pipes for $2500

Michael this guy is a tremendously gifted carver. His character on the pipe of ( can't remember the actors name) is spot on. To carve or sculpt well is one thing, but to truly capture the character is not common. Look at how many bust's of famous people you see whom you would not recognize if it were not for some distinguishing features. John F Kennedy hair cut and nose comes to mind. 8O

Pretty incredible woodcarving, the texture and detail. I would hope he gets some fairly exalted prices for these pieces.

He's on Facebook. He updates photos of each pipe he's working on. Watching the Smaug pipe come to life was fantastic. I love watching his pipes.
