I had a really ancient calabash in a case that I gave to a fellow here on the forum who used to make his own calabashes using gourds he had grown. I think his name was "Hawk' something or other. I used to post him the odd Condor Plug and he gave me a Scripto Lighter which I treasure to this day. I have not heard from him in years and I hope wherever he is that he is in good health!!

One of my best smokers is a briar calabash derivative. I bought it because it is from my favorite maker and because it was too cheap to pass up and because it has a conical chamber, which I find to be superior to cylindrical, but I find these shapes to be ugly. It's a double-whammy. Calabash ugly. Dublinish shapes don't feel right in the hands.
