So I was removing char from the rim of my pipe with water and a napkin, and also with a qtip and saliva, and realized some of the finish came off. Any fixes?

You could re char it and it would be as it was. If it's stain I would grab some matching stain or if it's just finish use shellac at a 1 pound cut and prime with dewaxed shellac first in a 1/2 pound cut. The cut is just the ratio of weight flake to a gallon of alcohol. You can get different shades of flake to match the pipe.

Forgot to mention use a French polish technique and then to match the finish gloss or matte you can either buff to gloss or use powdered tripoli to get a close matte finish.

you could try using furniture stain repair and then polish on top. not sure how it will react to heat though. I would have thought it would fine under normal use. I have used these on the bowl before where some damage was done
