The LB is one of Dunhill's most popular straight shapes with collectors. The letters supposedly stand for "large billiard," though that might be in hindsight since there aren't any other letter shapes where that scheme would make much sense. "XO" for example. Xylophone oragami? Xenomorph ostrogoth?
Occasional Shells turn up that have uniformly pebble-textured striations and growth rings. I've always liked 'em. They feel great in hand, almost like a worrystone.
This one was bought from Basil Sullivan at the Indiana Briar Friars show in 1991, and has been smoked regularly since. One of my All-Time Top 10, I think. (I never did understand why he was willing to sell it)

Now that's a great blast. Very evocative of its time. And a great smoker too; what more could you ask?

Very nice pipe; love that ox-blood stain. I think someday I'd like to buy one :puffy:
