    Bubbling in Old McClelland Tins

No worries. I've smoked some and it's just fine - and so far no strange growths on the side of my neck. LOL It's in a jar now and the can is set aside in case McClelland is interested in photos of the guts.

    Show Us Your Tobacco Stash

Hey RecoilRob, this stash looks a lot like mine, only multiplied. Is that the original Millenium 2000 from PCCA? At only 100 tins produced you may have cornered the market. I've got a can of that as well and have been trying to track down anything else about it on the web, but couldn't find...

    Bubbling in Old McClelland Tins

I never thought about tins rusting from the inside, but I believe that may be what happened here. I removed the tobacco (it smoked fine) and put it in a Mason jar and the conditions is pervasive throughout the can. With the staining it's difficult to tell whether it's actually rust or just...

    Bubbling in Old McClelland Tins

I went from pipes to cigars after, honestly, getting tired of carrying all the necessary accessories and the tongue bite. I'm much more the cigar smoker, like someone above mentioned, my preference are La Gloria Cubana Serie R. I cringe at the price a bit, but buying by the box saves me on the...

    Bubbling in Old McClelland Tins

Thanks. The first thing I did was give it a wipe with my finger figuring that mold would disperse and sugar would not, and it definitely did not behave like a mold (which I have experienced, particularly in an unlucky cigar humidor). I decided to contact McClelland about the can, but after...

    Bubbling in Old McClelland Tins

I mentioned this briefly in another thread, but wanted to ask more specifically about a condition I found in an old tin of McClelland's Christmas Cheer 1996 I opened. I have a number of old tins of various McClelland Virginia flake from the mid-90's that exhibit some degree of bulging. They...

    Vintage Pipe Tobacco Tin Problems

Thanks for the information. I just (figuratively) unearthed a stash of old McClelland's tins in a drawer in my basement from the mid-90's and many of them exhibited this condition. I popped the most deformed, a Christmas Cheer 1996 yesterday after reading this and was happy to see that it was...

    New Members, Introduce Yourself!

Hello all! My name is Jake - "The Backdoor Hippie" is an internet pseudonym and also the name under which I infrequently execute musical performances in public. I have been an occasional pipe smoker for the last 15 years after diving head first into the hobby in the early 90's. I befriended...
