    Aromatics

The guy who taught me about tobacco once said, "I don't think that those who like aromatics really like tobacco." For me, aromatics is an artificial sweetener in your coffee. Virginias accomplish the same thing, only naturally.

    Pear Wood (Root) is Underrated

This is a warning and a recommendation. First, if any of you are thinking of buying one of the pear woods made-in-Ukraine, don't. My experience was awful. Second, if you've considered buying a Mr. Brog, I can't recommend them enough. I have three and they all smoke well. Actually, one of them is...

    Box Pipes Aren't So Bad...

Confession: one of my favorite pipes is a box pipe. $35 and it smokes and travels as well as my name brand pipes. Anyone else have a good experience with box pipes?

    Old Dominion

Anyone smoke Old Dominion? Had a whiff of some and it smelled like ketchup.

    Pipe Evangelist

There is only one thing that comes remotely close to enjoying a pipe and some fine tobacco. And that's converting someone to smoking a pipe. To date I have converted two people, one a non-smoker, the other a cigar smoker, and both in their early 20's. Does anyone else out there get as much...

***What are You Smoking?*** (July 2012)

I'm currently obsessed with 3 Oaks and Virginia Currency, a house blend from a shop in Alexandria, VA.

    If you started with aromatics...

3 Oaks was my first adventure outside the world of aromatics. Which blend began your adventure?

Capital Area Pipe Smokers Still in Business?

I've recently moved to the Northern Virginia area and know of one club called CAPS (Capital Area Pipe Smokers). Unfortunately I've been unable to contact them regarding future meetings. Does anyone know if they still meet, and if so, who best to contact? Thanks Abram

Looking for D.C. Area Tobacco Shops

Hey, man, that's a lot of good and helpful info. I'll probably check them all out in search of one that fits. Thanks again.

Looking for D.C. Area Tobacco Shops

Hi everyone, I was hoping some of you could clue me in to one or more tobacco shops in the D.C. area. Obviously my preference is for something that's focused on pipes. I'm specifically moving to Falls Church, VA., so anything in that area would be particularly helpful. Thanks all, Abe
