    Changing Taste

I tend to become obsessed with a particular blend and it's all I want to smoke (lately it's Warhorse Green). Unfortunately I can just as easily lose interest in blends... usually after I've just stocked up on it. I have ton of latakia blends I no longer care about in the slightest. Same problem...

War Horse Bar is a winner!

Green is great stuff. It's my main smoke these days.

    Tell me about Drucquer&Sons

Which makes it even stranger. I understand resurrecting old blends using the name of a company that no longer exists. I find it curious that he releases completely new blends under the D&S name. What makes these new ones more of a D&S blend than a GLP blend? Is it simply for marketing purposes...

    Tell me about Drucquer&Sons

That's was my thinking as well. I've tried most of the GL Pease blends, whereas I've only tried tried them five Drucquer blends. I've noticed they're less Latakia oriented than most Pease blends.

    Tell me about Drucquer&Sons

Regarding flavor, what differentiates Drucquer & Sons from GL Pease blends? is there a house style?

    The Case Against Whole Leaf

I expect most pipe smokers are too unskilled at home blending to want to deal with raw leaf. You kind of have to be a DIY person; the guy who'd rather make a bookshelf from scratch than just buy one at Target. I'm more curious if you buy it often and if so what do make from it that replaces...

Discolored Stonehenge Flake....What is this ?

Interesting. Didn't know it also happened on cigars

    Anyone Seen Oppenheimer?

Should be pretty easy to predict whether it's for you. Did you like Nolan's Dunkirk?

Discolored Stonehenge Flake....What is this ?

It's a white crystal substance that sometimes appears on tobacco, typically after being stored in a tin or jar for a few years. Pipe smokers debate over what the crystals consist of and whether they actually make the tobacco smoke better. It's unpredictable and doesn't always occur regardless of...

Aging tobacco in my own lifespan

Actually I'm rather fond of the cellar series. Chenet's Cake and Joie de Vivre don't need any cellaring so far as I'm concerned. Plus, I'm too lazy to wait 10 years.

Aging tobacco in my own lifespan

Sounds to me like haven't smoked much vintage tobacco. Just buy a couple of 10 or 15 year old tins off Pipestud and try it for yourself. I believe the fascination will wear off when you realize it's still just pipe tobacco. Sure, it gets smoother and less edgy with age but it's not a radical...

    Rattray

More reliable yes, albeit neither tastes very much like Red Rapparee.

    He's probably ready for Gawith.

    Gawith Hoggarth Drop

Nicotine level isn't the consideration so much as the flavor... which is quite different than any other tobacco you'll ever try. You may dislike it at first because it's so unusual. When I first tried it I felt like I was smoking a bowl of burning motor oil but I've since come to like the...

Certain Tobaccos are a Hard Find

I certainly agree about 633. It used to be my favorite perique bomb.

    Cellaring Codgers

That means everything's working as intended. Codger blends are designed for a long stable shelf life with few changes to flavor. The cellaring effect most people are talking about is fermentation and the aging characteristics that happen in VA blends when they're in a sealed tin for a long...

    "Cigar" Type in Pipe Blends

I sort of know what you mean. I always wanted that cigar flavor in a pipe tobacco and never got it. Then I started buying various types of cigar leaf from Whole Leaf Tobacco and realized none of them actually tasted like cigar either (at least when smoked in a pipe). I think the problem is the...
