Got my zippo back Friday, it's not brand new, probably a refurb. It lights and works perfectly, and while I don't know if they fixed my lighter, or gave me a different refurbished one, I don't care! Will post pics later.

Heck, Zippo's can burn kerosene, jet fuel, charcoal fluid, you name it. I wouldn't recommend those, unless you're fond of the taste of napalm, but, to each his own. Tried JP-4 in Iraq, that worked OK. JP-8 probably would, too. Still, Zippo fluid is pretty cheap, so there's not much need to hang around a flight line or a barbecue just to fill your lighter.
I've only had to replace a Zippo once, due to sand damage. Got a brand new lighter and a nice note apologizing for the inconvenience. Sure, you can buy an Old Boy and get a very pretty lighter for a very pretty price. I'm happy with my Zippo with it's pipe insert.

Thats clean marmal4de... I found several zippos in a box at an estate sale here in Houston, about 18 zippos and another 15 of various makes, of the zippos, some had inserts some were just cases. The oldest I found to be a '51. nonetheless I shipped to PA and within 3 weeks all were returned with pipe inserts as I requested and they even refurb'd the old inserts and returned as well. All in all, I got all the lighters for $5. I have shared the good fortune with a few service men that I have met and even asked them to pass a few to the "boys" overseas. Life is great in Alvin Texas!!
