I prefer a straight, smooth billiard, does that mean I'm a classic old codger. :puffy:

I think it just depends on our assumptions about what we think will suit us.

I change pipe shapes almost daily.

Today it's a Rusticated Canadian.

But, I presently have a preference for Bulldogs as an accessory.

I have certain preferences, but I don't consider any of them to "define my personality".
I'm not even sure what that means.
But I'm far less introspective than most.

I have been drawn to short, stubby pipes lately. I think the oversized look is kinda cool. I must have a short and stubby personality. (?)
Of course my next purchase will be a long, squat churchwarden.
So, i must be very well rounded!

No one shape reflects my personality. I see something I like and I want it. Always been that way so no surprise that my taste in pipes is the same.

Let's see.

Utilitarian MM legend when I'm out. Rough, ready to to its thing. Easy to toss in a pocket. That pretty well describes my work and out and about personality.

Classic shaped briars for that relaxing end or start of day pipe at the house? Cool calm classic, a good bit of care and attention to detail.

Toss in the occasional odd shape, obviously hand carved, briar or pear wood. You know just for panache.

yeah I'd say the pipe I'm smoking at the time reflects where my head is, personality wise.

The choice of pipes that I smoke these days are from Denmark.

Like Stanwell/ Karl Eric . I like the style and quality of idependence

that goes into the make of these pipes . It fits my personality well

due to the testament of those who design these pipes to stand the

test of time. " Happy mortal! He who knows pleasure which a pipe bastows "

I have pipes of many different shapes. What does that say about my personality? Maybe because most of them are smooth finished it means I am a smooth operator.

I do not honestly know if my choice in pipes reflects my personality in any way. I like more traditional shapes, like Dublins, Lovats, Billiards and Apples. My eyes is drawn to a great sandblasted pipe as opposed to smooth ones. I like straight pipes as well as bent pipes. I like black sandblasted pipes because to me nothing says pipe, like a black sandblasted one. I do have many other colors of pipes, but my eye is always drawn to black first and foremost. Now how does this relate to my personality, no idea. I am traditional in many ways especially in terms of raising my children. In most other things I believe in live and let live and try not to judge anyone for their choices. Interesting topic though.
bigvan, I totally see your personality in your choices of pipes, can you say Cybil...I knew you could.

Great question! Unfortunately, I’m having trouble figuring out which one of my pipes really screams angry, lanky, white guy.

I'll have to say that for me as well... my pipes dont reflect my personality, at least I dont think so.

I tend to favor a few different shapes like canadians, lovats, pokers and even free hands... so for me its going to be the individual pipe that will call out to me.
Now of course this has to be taken with a grain of salt... as I only have 16 pipes and all are mid range or lower. So right now its more about the tobacco for me.
BUT once I am in a better position where I can start picking up some artisan or higher end pipes then maybe my true taste in pipes will begin to emerge :P

Dunno if it says anything about my personality, but I find myself drawn to the curves of bent pipes, and somewhat put off by the stark lines of straight pipes. I tend to like smooth finishes as opposed to rustication, and bowls that are good-sized. Apples, eggs, and bulldogs all have an appeal. Haven't handled a blowfish or a Rhodesian yet, so we'll see what happens when PAD kicks in for real. 8)

I've read some books that link personality to the pipe style, but I can't say I have any one style.
If anything the variety of my pipes is what defines me. I like the security of consistency and systems, but I hate monotony so I will change things up just to experience something new. I prefer billiard a or apples, but I have some free hands and dublins and bulldogs. I like smooth, but sometimes I like rusticated and I love the style of the partially rusticated Nordings. I now work 2 of my more recent homemade pipes into my 7 day rotation, one rusticated apple, and one 'real' acorn. I like bent pipes, but I find bending and fighting with the pipe cleaner to get it to the bowl while smoking to pick up the moisture is such a pain. I love peterson, Savinelli, Nording, And my own...
So if anything, my pipes reflect my eclectic tastes, mood, and interests.
Defining a style of a pipe for me is like discussing how one brush stroke on a painting defines the painting. :D

When just relaxing in my chair, I like a meerschaum or calabash. But when up and about I lean toward a bulldog or rhodesian, on the large side. A cob when on the lake or in the woods. I guess it just depends on what I'm doing.

So what kind of person would smoke this? Never seen anything like it, but that's not saying much.

Still a day to go for it on ebay if it's your cup of tea. (I'm not selling it, just ran across it)

Guess I like anything traditional, mostly. Freehands/artisans etc. are absolutely beautiful (usually), but I would definitely say they don't fit my personality at all. My favorites are a Peterson 312 and Wellinton that's basically a Pete 317, so I guess military bit bent... egg? Are those egg shapes? Anyway, if I could only smoke one pipe it'd be one of those and I feel they fit me.
