It's definately not your problem. As has been said until you sign for it, it's not your property or responsibility. Did you pay by credit card? My credit card company would sort this problem out for me.

Talk to Sarah Voss at P&C i am sure they will help you. UPS definitely insured this and they can get it worked out.

I had a shipment that said "delivered" and i actually never got it. Even though P&C had no responsibility legally they sent me a replacement package.

Have you ever seen a UPS or Fed-Ex warehouse? If it says "fragile" on it, the employees try their hardest to smash it.
Having done shipping and receiving before, I never fail to be amazed with the carelessness of the delivery and pick-up drivers. They just grab the boxes and chuck it into their trucks like they just do not give a shit. Seriously, it's insane. And the USPS isn't a whole lot better.
I like shopping online, but until the items I order are in my hands I'm always nervous about it.

haha...thats actually not totally true. I know from first hand experience, and yes stuff does get damaged just from the volume in the system.
The driver should not be forging your signature and also should not be leaving it in an unsecure location.
Just curious...have you checked the contents of the package yet??? Sometimes a package gets damaged to hell, but the contents are intact.

Thanks for all of your thoughts on this. I pretty much listened to you and called UPS. They say it is against their policy to leave packages in the hall in New York City . They will have it picked up and returned to the shipper. They say they will look into the false signature. I will not contact Paypal unless they refuse credit or refuse to reship. It is likely that the drivers on this route will not do this again, at least for a while. That is about all that can be hoped for. With UPS & Fedex both, there are drivers who have their own delivery policies that differ from the shipping company policies. It is up to UPS to keep their procedures in order.
