These antique store and yard sale Dunhill stories drive me nuts. All my antique stores and yard sales sell are end tables

and chipped pottery, and when I ask about pipes the expression on the owner's face is as if I had asked to buy a

machine gun. I guess people in my area just don't have a history of pipe smoking. It's cigarette country. Moan.

But keep on telling those stories about the $2 box of Dunhills etc. For me, sweet dreams.
I think these types of finds are very rare, but I occasionally see some old pipes in antique stores. Usually a basket filled with old medicos and no-names. One day it could happen. If it's meant to be, it's meant to be. :puffy:

My least expensive pipe is a Lane Era Charatan that I paid 35.00 for off of ebay. When I received the pipe it was filthy so I cleaned it up and once that was done the stem was so loose I contacted the seller and asked to return it. The seller( Peace Angle) said t0 just keep the pipe and she would refund my money, so it really cost me nothing.

Here is a pic of that one.

The least expensive I actually paid for was another Lane Era Charatan that I paid 46.00 for around the same time I bought the above mentioned pipe. It is a really good smoker as is the other one and for under 50.00 both are tough to beat.

With so much competition with the dealers that run little what not and antique shops here in town it has become increasingly harder to find the things I always have on my short list at yard sales. These include pipes and accessories, books, bamboo fly rods and fly reels and camera lenses for Nikon dSLR's and Leica M series. Heck I'd be happy just to find some pipe sleeves to go with pipes I have that I don't have sleeves for.

If anyone lives near Putnam Conn, the entire town is one big antique store. There must be some great deals on pipes there as I used to go antiquing there years ago but was not into pipes back then, but saw tons for sale. It is probably worth a couple to 3 hour drive for any of you New Englanders to go see what is available.

My least expensive pipe is my home made nose warmer. It cost me $8 bucks for a chunk of briar and a $1.50 molded stem.

My least expensive pipe would be this Davidoff 104 bent natural 'Pipa Pfeife' I just won from eBay. I paid $32.50 for this pipe not including shipping. So I'd guess it's the least expensive for the brand and quality.

Thanks Harris. I will have to put it on my bucket list.
Bentmike, that's a great looking pipe. Are there more pics? Nice job on that.

It was a Stanwell black sandblasted horn that cost $18 new. Of course that was in 1958-9. According to internet inflation rate information that would be $144.50 today. Sorry no picture. It took over 30 years of occasional smoking to get a good smoke out of it.

Mine would have to be this H.I.S. billiard that I bought new at John Dengler's in St. Charles, MO for $26 if my memory serves be correctly. It smokes like I would expect a $26 pipe to smoke but it's a pretty good knock-around pipe.

If I consider 53 years of pipe smoking the question gets complicated! I have a $35 18 year old pipe that does deliver a fine smoke. It is an IRC (by Savenelli).

My cheapest pipe was won off if eBay for 0.01 and free shipping! I didn't read the details though, although the picture looks like wood it is a 3/4 bent stone pipe with acrylic stem. It does NOT smoke well and I think it was meant for another type of weed.
