Hey guys.....what's dip? I realise I could google it, but I'm thinking your answers might be a bit more colourful...
It's a finely ground, moist, and often flavored oral tobacco. You put a pinch in between your cheek and lower gum. You'll need to spit al lot. I never enjoyed it. Really popular in rural areas of the United States especially in the South. Growing up my dad and a lot of men around me used it. That was in rural Kansas and Missouri. When I lived in the Northeast, and now in Chicago I never see anyone using it.

I smoked cigarettes for over 20 years, at least a pack a day. Early on I found myself working next door to a cigar and pipe shop (still there). I bought a pipe (Nording Churchwarden) and had no idea, and probably didn't finish the 2oz house blend of whatever. Over the years I would smoke an occasional cigar, almost always a Rocky Decade. I smoked too fast and always followed it up with a cig.

Sometime in there, mid 20s, I decided to quit cigs and did so. Not wanting to quit tobacco I had the brilliant idea to allow myself 1 cigar per week. Mondays were my day, I still remember this. I've given myself bad nicotine poisoning once- yeah it was on a fateful Monday, huffing down a cigar like a fiend after a week without cigarettes. Another time, more recently, I was close from smoking many pipes but more importantly from doing so while sitting in a full cigar lounge breathing in the secondhand from probably 30 people for 4+ hours.

Anyway, I resumed cigs pretty quickly. As I approached 40 I knew I should quit, and did so a couple years ago. As I was mulling over the idea that I was sick of cigs but didn't want to give up tobacco it occurred to me that the old Nording was in my closet. And here we are

I would add that I quit cigarettes by putting a pipe in my face and smoking as much Pegasus as possible. I also used Snus throughout the workday, sometimes just 1 but more often 3 or 4. A couple weeks ago I got horribly sick (somehow not Covid) and the desire for Snus was lifted. For the past week or so I've marveled at the fact that, today for example, I had no nicotine whatsoever until my drive home (small cigar). Curious
