I have some great memories of my Dad, Grandpa and my two Uncles playing cribbage and smoking their pipes in the kitchen at the old booth table.

Booth-Table.jpg

That was back in the 60's when I was just a child. My mom said they loved to smoke Middleton's Cherry Blend. The room note was great...At, least that's what I remember. I'm not a big fan of smoking
Cherry Blends, but, whenever I smell them, they sure bring back memories. I found a pic of an old booth table - not the exact one. But, I have great memories sitting, watching and smelling puffy

I remember clearly climbing out of my crib at about three and going to slide in with my folks, and at the same age, being carried by my mom and pointing to the light fixture and saying "light." I can still draw a house plan of that little place which we left when I was four. I remember vividly the house cat that didn't live long, a casualty of the busy road a block away; she had kittens and "trained" me in feline etiquette which seems to have translated well to other cats throughout my life. She trained me right. I marveled at her producing kittens. Also remembering discovering a house fire under the coal-burning steam furnace, but not knowing it wasn't supposed to be burning under the floor, so my dad had to discover it. My memories go back pretty far.

I remember my dad teaching me how to sing a major or minor third on his lap ...pipe-wise, I remember /his/ grandfather smoking a pipe in the living room during family gatherings. My grandmother loves to smell my pipe when she comes by and will even usually take a few puffs. He smoked black cavendish and 5 Brothers out of cobs and basket briars ...dude had a big, booming voice that scared the shit out of me but he was always very nice :)

My first memory, I was about 3. My dad and I were watching The Three Stooges, It was the episode or movie, about them going to space. It was a crystal clear night. My dad carried me down to the mailbox, to check the mail. He pointed up at a big bright moon, and told me that's where The Stooges were going.. Its strange that this one sticks out for me as I don't remember anything else, from that early age.

Good thread, by the way. Thanks for taking me back, through my mind's photo album.

I was 4 and my dad wouldn’t take me across the street to the Village Pantry for candy.

We had these big brick pillars that held up the porch, and I said I’d hit my head on them if he didn’t take me.

He said ‘OK’ and I proceeded to do it. Next thing I remember was getting stitches while my mom gave him a tongue lashing at the doctor’s office.

He was right, of course. Many years later my son at 3 did the same thing to my bookshelf...sigh.

I remember the first episode of Star Trek The Next Generation.
Dad kind of made a big deal out of it but I thought the first episode was REALLY weird, and still do.
I was two when TNG first aired.

Oh, also I'm almost certain that I remember unpacking the NES, which released when I was one year old, but I can't say for certain when mom bought it, only that I was awestruck at her complete mastery of Super Mario Brothers.

Not sure of the age, but it was sub 3 years old because we moved house when I was about 3: being put to sit on the kitchen counter while my mother was cooking. I remember because it felt I was 100m in the air, and terrified. Don't think I ever fell, but remember feeling I could fall any moment, and that floor looking very hard!

First pipe memory has to be playing with my cousins and watching their father work or read while loading, lighting and smoking bowl after bowl after bowl of Captain Black, and me liking the smell. 35 years later he gifted me 4 pipes (all Capitol Bruyere), two of them STILL have the Captain's ghost in them when you get to the heel!

My first memory was of setting out on an adventure on my tricycle (it was red). Mom said fine if I stayed on the one block street in front of the house. Of course, I went further - all the way around the block. By the time Mom caught up to me, I was already home and sitting in front of the house grinning. Because I didn't get caught, Mom couldn't punish me. Which led to a life of crime. I blame Mom.s-l640.jpg
