One of the joys of pipes and the reason I have too many are the different national origins. I think in order of great

smoking I'd have to put Denmark first with Joh's and Bari at the top; then Italy with Sav, Ser Jacopo, Giani; then

the U.S. with Dr. Grabow, Bentons, MM cob, OD cob, Jerry Perry handmades, Kaywoodie, Yello-Bole; then English for Parker and

Britannia. Who am I forgetting? But then I love my French pipes -- Chocum, BC, Vuillard.

USA - J M Boswell consistently makes great smoking pipes at a reasonable price & I will try other American pipe makers as funds permit.

Denmark - my Ben Wade is an excellent smoker as are my other Danish pipes no matter what tobacco I put in it

Turkey - I like meerschaum pipes

Albania - that's where I got my custom made pipe. Aside from the look, which of course I love because I designed it, it smoked great right from the start. I'm getting another pipe from the same guy next week so we will see if he can go 2 for 2

It's mixed to me because I like my pipes not by country's pattern but by maker's.

For Denmark --- BJARNE, NORDING.

For ITALY --- SAVINELLI, CESARE, RAGANELLA

For ENGLISH --- BBB, SAVORY

For GEMANY --- PETER HEINRICH, VAUEN

They are all great smoker and I do go for all.

Americana.
I like them all, but I just love the American designs. To me they have a modern, yet retro look, and I love that.

Right now I am really liking France and Denmark. I'll also through Italy in there, even though a lot of the pipes that come out of that country tend to be too big for my tastes.

Pics please!
I can't say it's my favorite 'cause I don't have one yet, but I really really really want a Bruken from Spain.

Denmark, love my danish sovereigns. Also love france because of my Butz Choquim. Can't say I really have a favorite though, a good pipe is a good pipe no matter where it was made.

I like the classic shapes, but I really like the Italian take on the classics.

My favorites are American artisan pipes followed by Italian, Danish and then English pipes. In my experience the English pipes in general have the smallest shank dimensions and I like 4.0-4.5 mm openings. The Italian makers in general all make their pipes in that range. I believe a pipe just smokes so much better with those dimensions as they smoke much drier. In my smoking career, I have smoked pipes from the following makers. I would own more Italian pipes than the two I own( one Sav, my first pipe and a Castello) if they used Vulcanite for their stems instead of acrylic as I do love the way they smoke. At one time my collection had over 25 Italian pipes in it. I also owned around 15 English pipes at one time as well. I also owned around 17-20 Danish pipes at one time with Former(6) and Winslow(8) being the most represented.
