In the semi-rural NorthEastern USA
it hasn't existed in years or decades. It was called tobacco Tavern and it was amazing that such a place existed in my stupid little town. I remember when I'd visit cities they'd always have better stores always, this was the one exception. It wasn't just that they had everything one could want or need and were great about ordering stuff for people it also had the best social situation too.

In my home town suburb of Chicago, backed up to the commuter railroad tracks for about thirty years was the Park Ridge Pipe Shop, which featured both high end brands and shop-made pipes. For its size, it was impressive and always smelled great. In the 80's, it became a hang-out for the counter culture kids. I was only a visitor to town by then and didn't wade into to the young crowd. It finally went under, maybe in the late eighties, but I always think of it in that little row of shops that still stands. It was across from the City Hall and the Community Church where I was confirmed.
