Your Best Vintage Savinellis?

For new pipe smokers or others not familiar with the brand, I'd point out that various current Savinelli series do not have the 6 mm balsa, or any other, filter. So you can get these new without studying and buying an estate. For example, the entire Oscar Lucite series is non-filter. My 601 churchwarden is non-filter. If you shop carefully, you can find other series and individual pipes in this category, and the Sav-made Rossi pipes similarly offer this in some pipes and series. Some of the posts here might have led you to believe that Sav no-filter pipes are a thing of the past, which is not the case.

I know you can get non filtered new Savinelli's, but the grain on them is usually nothing special

Most of my Savs of various series have been pleasing. I especially have enjoyed the unfinished pipes. My old 404 yacht has taken on a deep walnut stain look that really lights my fire. It's about 34 years old.
