I am a.convert. I've got many tins in the cellar and recently found some Dark Star that went South on me. I have many tins to put into mason jars now...

I don't know man, I've got some pretty big/strong rare earth magnets, I'd be tempted to smoke it...

Rust won’t burn, it’s already oxidized. A few rust particles in the tobacco wont hurt you. Probably wouldn’t taste too good though, if a lot of rust got into the tobacco. I would definitely try it at least, you never know.

Doesn’t C&D use aluminum tins? Aluminum won’t rust like that so I wouldn’t worry about jarring those.

Neil Young told us that "Rust Never Sleeps."

Id smoke it. Id probably use a filter. If you dont like the taste with filters grab some balsa or paper.

I was debating a magnet too...does material from tins stick? I never tried.

I dont know but I imagine most of the rust is stuck to the sides. Id carefully remove as much as I could and then go from there.

I'd also smoke it, I cook mostly on cast iron and while most of mine aren't too rusty I'm not worried too much about a little extra iron, though I'd also probably pull a page from Sigmunds book and use a filter pipe. As long as its not moldy at least.

Sorry you had that happen. I have to agree with some others here and say I would probably carefully empty the tin and discard anything that looked diseased. Hopefully there is a lot of good tobacco left that is untainted. I say that for three reasons: 1) I'm cheap, I hate to throw my valuable tobacco out 2) the argument that some tobacco is untainted is reasonable 3) I am 63 so kinda old and survived worse.

I am not even sure why this is considered a problem, or why you would waste good tobacco! Of course I would smoke it!!

Didn't you drink out of a garden hose? Go camping? Play with a broken thermometer? Sorry, I am Gen X.

As a physician... Uh,Hmmm. Nose pointed toward sky. "Not advisable or approved by the FDA. Discard at your regional chemical facility and agricultural containment authority. Now let's discuss your smoking addiction, BMI, and exercise habits."

This just arrived in the mail from Mr. Webb, rust and all! Thank you, sir!

Unfortunately, I just had dental implant surgery and won’t be smoking for the next several months. I will toss it into a Mylar bag with a 69% Boveda and get back to you all in October or November.
I haven't seen a post from you, Woods in a while. I guess it's due to the surgery. I have missed them as they are my injection of cultural enlightenment......

Seriously, sorry you are having to deal with the implants. My son had to have that 20 years ago but it went very well. Hoping the best for you and quick recovery.

Hurry back, we need the culture.....
