Starting to Get Obsessed

I have often thought that tobaccoreviews.com could be better. Now that it has been acquired by STG I would consider trying my hand at an alternative. One of the main obstacles are the years of excellent reviews by the likes of JimInks and others. Do you think people would actually move to a fresh review platform? If so, what is missing from tobaccoreviews that you would like to see?

I visit the site frequently but it's hardly ever for reviews. I find it's a good resource for looking up information related to the blender and manufacturer and to learn about previous versions manufactured by different companies. So, for me, a new site probably isn't needed unless that type of information was easier to access.

Yeah, it's good for that. It's also good for looking up long lost blends. I find that very interesting.

The codger response would be that it was better before, anyway. puffy

At the risk of sounding like a pollyanna, this stuff is all so precarious right now, I'm just planning to use and enjoy what's out there for as long as I can.
It was way better before the "upgrade". The search and sort functionality has gone down the tubes. I look at the site now maybe 5-10% of what I used to.

I just look at reviews from certain individuals who provide useful information. Tobaccoreviews just has a lot of chaff. But information that is not useful to me might be useful to someone else.
I usually only read Jim Inks' reviews because he gives super detailed and objective descriptions, so whether or not he rates it well it's easy to see if it's something I think is worth my time. There's a few others like Pipe Stud who are pretty solid too

The main obstacle with a new platform I can see is the lack of reviewer history.

Whether I'm very familiar or not familiar at all with a particular blend I often look up reviews. I like to compare my thoughts while enjoying a blend with others thoughts. I've found my tastes line up very much with reviewer StevieB so I look for him in particular.
